FAQ Window Blinds

Window blinds do not have pleats. It has a clean and elegant look. Therefore it goes well with contemporary interiors. It is advisable to look at the real blind in operation before ordering it. People who are inclined towards traditional look and pleats may not like window blinds. It is not a good idea to use blinds in the balcony doors or French doors.

Roman Blind

Roman Blinds are made of fabric and can be made in almost any curtain fabric barring a few. It has an elegant look and often times used in combination with curtains for windows of smaller width. Each piece of Roman blind has a maximum width of 48”/54” depending on the fabric chosen. Windows with larger width has to have multiple blinds and there will be a gap of an inch between the blinds. It comes in two mechanisms – ball chain and chord lock. 

Hobbled Roman Blinds have are also called Pleated Roman blinds. Unlike other blinds, these roman blinds have pleats and looks exclusive. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Wooden Blind

These blinds are made of 100% natural bass wood. Bass wood are best suited for blinds because it has a very little warp factor.  There are other cheap wood variants available in the market. We do not have those low quality variants. We source quality products from reliable manufacturers. Slat size is available in 35mm and 50 mm with a option of string or tape ladder.

 

Aluminium Blind

These blinds are used in the kitchen, bathrooms and offices. These blinds are operationally similar to wooden blinds but the slat size is only 1”. It is available in a wide range of colors. Premium version comes with an eccentric punch. These blinds are fragile and require careful handling.

Woven Wooden/Bamboo Blind

Woven blinds get its name from the wood or bamboo woven together to make the blind. It comes in a large range of colors and is interior blinds. Bamboo blinds are economical when compared to woven wood blinds.

String Curtain Blind

It can be used in the partition between living and dining spaces. String curtain blinds are premium blinds and shows exclusiveness. It can also be used in Restaurants and hotel lounges.

Pleated Blind

Pleated blinds are made of polyester fabric and looks like folded pleats in bellows or shutters. These blinds defy gravity and hence can be used in Skylight windows or inclined windows. Pleated blinds are very premium blinds that will make people ask about it at your home or office.

Honey comb Blinds

These blinds have a honey comb structure in the cross section and traps air between two sided of the blind. It has very good thermal and sound insulation properties. It comes in wide choice of design/utility.

Zebra Blinds

As the name suggests, Zebra blinds have horizontal stripes of opaque and transparent fabric woven together. In certain position of the blind, it will be transparent and certain position, it will be opaque.  There are a wide color and fabric options available for selection.  Zebra blinds are becoming a style statement.

Faux Wood Blinds

These are PVC blinds that can withstand sunlight and water. They are used in wet places such as balcony, bathrooms and kitchen. These blinds come up in two mechanisms. First is a Venetian blind version. This blind is premium and looks like a wooden blind and is very ideal for bathrooms. Second option is a Rollup blind. This is a economical variant but cannot stop complete light and is not good for privacy. Rollup blinds are good for balconies and kitchen.

Roller Blind

Roller blinds come in many variants of fabrics. The plain and textured design fabrics are used in offices. These are very elegant. In terms of utility, fabrics can be transparent, opaque and blackout. Blackout stops sunlight 100%. It is used in conference rooms and Home theaters. A variant of roller blind for home is Printed Roller Blind. It has a range of digital printed fabrics. These are exclusive blinds.

Vertical Blinds

These blinds are most common in offices. It has vertical strip of fabrics put together to make the blind. It is the economical one of all types of blinds. It comes in a wide range of fabrics and colors. 100% blackout can be achieved by choosing a vinyl coated fabric.

Maintenance

Roman blind fabrics can be removed from the mechanism and dry-cleaned. Most of the other blinds can only be dusted and vacuum-cleaned. 

How to take measurement for blinds?

These are standards and may vary depending upon the look that you want. Take the width of the window – Add 3” on either side of the window.  Take the height 4” above the window and 5” below the window if the window is at the middle of the wall.

Computation for blinds

Window blinds are always calculated in sqft. Roman blind is an exception where the making is calculated in sqft and fabric in metres. Total sqft may be more than the window size due to the installation tolerances, repeat size of the design, making allowances. It varies for each type of window blind.
