Wooden Flooring

Floor preparation for Wooden Flooring

Laminate flooring comes in thickness of 8mm and 12mm. Engineered wood flooring comes in 19mm thickness. Real wood flooring comes in 12mm thickness. (These thicknesses can change without notice. Please check with the showroom before using these numbers for floor preparation. Add 2mm for the foam underlay. Therefore for an 8mm laminate flooring, depth of 10mm has to be given in the floor. Floor has to be cemented and smoothened.

Laying

Wooden flooring does not do any damage to the floor. They are only locked and not pasted to the floor. Only the profile/beeding has to be fastened to the floor or wall.

Profile and beeding

Wooden flooring undergoes thermal expansion/contraction. Therefore unlike marble or tiles, wooden flooring cannot be laid till the wall. There has to be a gap between the wall and the flooring to account for expansion. This gap has to be covered with a beeding, profile or skirting. It gives a neat clean look and is functional. Color of the profile/beeding will not match with that of the flooring. It will only be a 50% color match and no texture match.

Maintenance

Laminate flooring is laminated on either side and waxed on all the edges. Therefore it can withstand water that is spilled. However, when the flooring is laid, the wooden tiles have to be cut to take the shape of the room. Waxed edges get cut as well. It is therefore advised not allow water to be stagnant in the flooring. In case of spill or splash, wipe the water at the earliest. We advise you to store some extra wooden flooring planks. In case of any damage, same shade of wooden flooring material (shade) may not be available for repair work.

Daily maintenance - Soak the mop in the water and then squeeze the water before moping the wooden floor. Allow the floor to dry completely.

Total Sqft for wooden flooring

Wooden Flooring is delivered in boxes. Each box ranges from 17 sqft to 25 sqft. The requirement will be rounded off to the nearest higher number of boxes. The profile and beeding are calculated by Running feet(RFT). Each length of the profile/beeding will be 8 RFT.

 

PVC Flooring

Floor preparation for PVC Flooring

PVC flooring comes two formats - rolls and planks. Thickness - 0.4mm to 2.8mm(in Rolls), 1mm to 3mm(in planks). These thicknesses can change without notice. Please check with the showroom before using these numbers for floor preparation. Floor has to be cemented and smoothened.

Laying

PVC flooring is pasted to the floor using SR adhesive. No damage to the floor. Can be laid on Cemented, Vitrified, marble or any solid floors.

Profile and beeding

No profile or beeding is required for PVC floor. If required, the profile used in for wooden flooring can be used - but it won't fit correctly and not recommended.

Maintenance

PVC flooring is water resistiant and can be used in places where there is moisture and water usage. Chairs, sofa, table and other sharp objects should not be dragged. It will damage the floor and not covered under warranty

Total Sqft for PVC flooring

PVC Flooring in plank format is delivered in boxes. Each box ranges from 17 sqft to 25 sqft. The requirement will be rounded off to the nearest higher number of boxes. Roll width for PVC flooring is 79" and has to be calculated accordingly. Wastage will be billed to the customer.
